DigiSpark Makes Moves In Barbados… my calling!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to hold an event in Barbados speaking with young entrepreneurs about how to use digital to enhance their business. To say I loved it and want to do more is an understatement… it really feels like this is ‘my calling’. To touch peoples lives with my story and how I have achieved what I have in life using digital to strive forward and push boundaries which growing up, as a kid would have been inconceivable.

I grew up in humble beginnings to say the least. I have heard people talk about their hardship and it sounds difficult and I know there are people out there who had it even harder than me but its about what you do with those difficult times and use them to make your journey more meaningful and have some form of purpose.

Growing up on a London council estate with a single mum with crime at every touch point was interesting and gave me a fundamental view on life. My uncle would pull up in his Ferrari, Bentley, Aston Martin… I was surrounded by a lot of money but was also surrounded by a HUGE amount of poverty, drugs, sex and pure criminal activity. I have seen money, I have seen people have it and then have it gone in a second. Money is a funny thing… people are chasing it… I do believe we need it but it is not, in my life, what makes me tick. I have it and its great to be able to do things like spend a month in Barbados but it certainly destroys souls and makes them lose the path of humanity.

“Money is numbers and numbers never end. If it takes money to be happy, your search for happiness will never end.” Bob Marley

I truly believe if you follow your passion the money will follow… So this is what I am going to do I will take DigiSpark and my knowledge of how the digital and business space has helped me create the life I want. I burgled a house at 12 and sold drugs at 13 but I know what helped me change my path were individuals who have touched my soul and enabled me to see what can be achieved. There are young people out there like myself growing up who have no type of guidance… their parents are lost… they have pure anger in their souls why should they believe life can be this good? They are surrounded by some of the ugly things… you cannot even imagine what it is like for them. Well I am here to make them believe they can have it all.

Being in Barbados and watching the waves roll in I get why legends like Bob Marley had such a clear vision. I will leave you with another one of his quotes, which I believe has such true meaning. Some people just need a little support riding over those ruts to understand what road to take… #Inspire #Educate #DigiSpark #KeepItReal

A big thanks to Ricardo Redman and Harriet Gameson for believing and helping make the first Barbados event happen… more to come!

Barbados I LOVE you.

Jack of all trades master of non

Last year I attended the DRUM Live, fabulous event. There was a young chap called Charlie from the Gentlemen’s Journal speaking about being a “Jack of all trades master of one” and how it is not true for this day and age. You see gone are the days you need 10 individuals to run a magazine. In this day and age you can happily have one person who does the lot, as we have seen with many bloggers.

They run the show and do it very, very well. Attend the top fashion shows, tweet, post on facebook, instagram, blog, present… and be the photographer whilst having a full time job… like wtf?

Amazing… well yes in deedy they truly are remarkable individuals as well as being utterly talented… these guys are multi-skilled and are a development of modern society as it is today.

Its the digital revolution… as I always say if you don’t know how to use it then Google it!

Why I love the digital space

Digital rocks my world. I love it and cannot get enough of it… living and breathing it. I think the reason why I adore it is the freedom it has given me. I was lucky enough to study digital back in the late #Naughties (Nineties) and even luckier for the skills I have acquired over the years. I feel utterly blessed I felt this pull towards the phenomenon. The journey I have been on has been like a dream I have to pinched myself all the time. Remember it is your journey and you have to pick the direction. I have to say digital has given me the ability to plan and guide my path to where I want to be. Use it in the right way and it can open doors beyond your dreams.

So now I want to take it to the next level. Watch this space…

Ready, steady GO, GO, GO

I would like to say a huge welcome to my digital space. My Grandad passed away at the beginning of the week at 91. I miss him so much and always will but know he is in a better place. He was full of so much knowledge and love. So this is why you are reading this, yep its because of him. I asked him once what would you of done more of in life and his reply was ‘more play’. So this is my play and what I have wanted to do for a few years now. Thanks Grandad… X

My blog is about my time here on this funny place called earth. I will share my wisdom, ideas and views, which you may agree or disagree with. These will reflect my love of life and interests in the digital space.

Do not expect anything on here to be perfect because I am most definitely not in any form nor would want to be. I have wanted have my own blog for a long time but always found the excuse on why not to or have been wrapped up in creating something for a client. I am not certain if it is a fear of what people will think of my writing and thoughts or some other weird thing in my head that I am letting hold me back. But Grandad Goodchild has given me some of the Goodchild power. Yes its funny I come across people who believe I am as confident as a person could be, but believe me I am caca whacking myself 🙂

Well fear take a run and jump because that is exactly what I am going to do. Here goes…
